The Viblan Gold Field Reader pistol is a handheld screen and audio detector that will show you the presence of gold in two way.

USING THE MAXFYND  “MOODY or FIELD READER”  TO FIND GOLD IN THE FIELD

The maxFynd 'Moody' is a powerful long-range microwave detector that will tell you exactly where gold lies using audio and visual indication.

There are two recharge points on the unit.

The maxFynd 'Field Reader' handheld is best powered by a motor vehicle's own 12 V D.C. Battery through the cigarette lighter adaptor provided. The user can wander round the vehicle for some 50 feet in a circle and detect gold larger than 9 grams and up to reefs and deposits with unmistakeable accuracy. Depth is 12 feet maximum.

Make sure the pistol's rechargeable battery is fully charged from an AC outlet before setting out into the field. The light goes out when it is.You should get 4 hours from one full charge. Only charge when it is
depleted is a good rule of thumb.

NOTE: Please use a healthy battery and/or have a mobile or way of seeking help should the battery be low in charge. If you buy a 12 V Sealed Lead-Acid battery and charger from an electronics store you can take the device anywhere you care to go on foot. Freight precludes maxFynd from sending this as well but it is recommended for wider field work.It can be carried in a shoulder bag or knapsack. Place the black horn connected to the cigarette lighter on the ground near the motor vehicle. Make sure two red led lights are glowing. If not, make the connections tighter. The horn transmits a detection signal in a circle from the motor vehicle that is intercepted by the handheld unit.

Turn the dial on the handheld unit until you find the quietest spot on it. The less sound the better. Ideally there should be no sound at all at this point. Sweep the pistol in 360 degree circle or in a certain direction listening for the click (like switching on a CB radio, hence the old name 'Tenfour').

You can turn the audio up so you can hear the distinct click-click as you sweep the gold direction and/or watch the screen for the black interference lines that occur as you cross the direction of the gold. The aerial will help as you can point it to the surface or somewhere in the distance to get an exact location and walk to it until it goes. Focussing on the area of the clicking, sweep the area in smaller arcs until the static is continuous or definite. Looking along the aerial or using the laser gives the pinpointed direction of the gold.( See film clip on CD).

Gold can be detected in the 50'circle and found and proven with the same left to right sweeping and clicking. When above the target the clicking will be continuous or telltale. From past the target point or from the side the position will be the same. If the target is further than you can walk to, simply take another reading from another point (triangulation) and establish the location of the gold this way. With reefs and deposits you will probably need to drive to another point. If you can take readings at three points you will leave little doubt as to where. All one then needs to do is use a standard metal detector to establish whether the gold registers. If not then move onto another area. The maxFynd cuts down usual detection time to minutes instead of hours. You can also travel over the zone pointing the aerial at the surface and checking any concentration of loud clicks or static as if using a standard metal detector.

Depth to the target is gauged by a standard metal detector or the angle  included. Start at the point where the handheld tells you and mark it with a counter, then walk out from it until the special alloy angle  turns in your hand. The distance walked is roughly equal to the depth to the target. TIP: Only try in areas where you get a lot of static clicking. This indicates a gold detection zone.

You will note the there is a few seconds warm-up time when sweeping in a direction. This is normal. Also there will be a definite click-click for a time then silence before the sound returns after a while. This occurs mainly in built-up areas. It is recommended you use the detector well outside city limits to escape the miscellaneous static that you will otherwise hear. Also when vehicles pass over reefs even miles away they will null the signal & you will get periods of silence/noise.

The lightness and user-friendliness of this device makes detecting worthwhile and a pleasure. It can be used by all age-groups.
